Pinball Machines

In 1931 the first coin operated pinball machine was created in Chicago called ‘Baffle Ball’. The original machine was very heavy and it actually very stiff and required a lot of strength to operate the machine. Back in those day coin operated machines were considered gambling and gambling was banned is almost every state in the US. So in 1933 pinball machines were banned in some states as they were associated with gambling and even organized crime at that time.

In 1947 pinball machines had a slight design change where the ‘flippers’ were added to hit the ball. This made it look and feel more like a game and more family friendly and made it more about your skill rather than gambling.
