The Nintendo Switch was released in 2017.  The Switch is a hybrid console as it can be used as a handheld console as well as be connected to a TV. The Switch uses Joy-Con wireless controllers, which include standard buttons and a directional joystick for user input, motion sensing, and high-definition tactile feedback. The Joy-Con can attach to both sides of the console to support handheld-style play and  connect to a Grip accessory to provide a traditional home console gamepad form, or be used individually in the hand like the Wii Remote, supporting local multiplayer modes.  The Switch does support online gaming. Before the release of the console  Nintendo had already announced over 100 games for the console. The console sold over 2.74 million units in the first month of its launch, exceeding Nintendo's initial projection of 2 million. Switch sales were highly tied to the critically acclaimed The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, released alongside the console's launch.The Nintendo switch is really the first console of its time and other companies might try and create their own hybrid consoles following the huge success of the Nintendo Switch. One of the main reasons of the creation of the Switch was Nintendo's huge financial loss in 2014. Nintendo attributed some of the loss to the rise of mobile gaming. Nintendo designed the switch to with people busy lives and still want to game, that's one of the reasons they made the switch the portable hybrid.  That is one of the reasons it sold so well.  They name the console the switch to not only refer to switch from handheld to home console but also refers to how the Nintendo Switch will change or 'switch' up how people play video games.
